TANVEER AHMED MANGRIO VS State S. 342---Power of the court to examine accused---Scope---All incriminating pieces of evidence available on record were required to be put to the accused, as provided under S. 342, Cr.P.C., for the purpose of enabling the accused to explain any circumstances appearing in evidence against him which clearly demonstrated that not only the circumstances appearing in the examination-in-chief were to be put to the accused but the circumstances appearing in cross-examination or re-examination were also required to be put to him, if they were against him.
