FARHAN AHMED VS State S. 302(b)---Qatl-i-amd---Appreciation of evidence---Sentence, reduction in---Minor contradictions and discrepancies in the statements of witnesses---Scope---Accused was charged for committing murder of his wife/sister of the complainant---In the present case, there were some minor contradictions and discrepancies in the evidence of the prosecution witnesses, however, the same with the passage of time usually took place almost in every criminal case and the same were trivial in nature, which did not go to the root of the cause, however, such trivial contradictions could not be made basis for acquittal of the accused, particularly in a murder case---Circumstances established that prosecution had proved its case against the accused, thus, conviction was upheld under S.302(b), P.P.C., but reduced the sentence of accused from that of the death penalty to life imprisonment---Appeal against conviction was disposed of with said modification in sentence.
