Justice QAZI FAEZ ISA VS PRESIDENT OF PAKISTAN art. 188---Review jurisdiction of the Supreme Court---Scope---When a Court sits to review its judgment it does not sit in appeal over its own judgment but proceeds to have a fresh look at it within the limits of the review jurisdiction and for this purpose, it invokes the very same jurisdiction which it exercised earlier, whether it be appellate or original, and can modify its judgment in the exercise of that very jurisdiction---Review jurisdiction only provides a mode to re-invoke the jurisdiction earlier exercised, and thus takes colour from the nature of the jurisdiction exercised by the Court in passing the judgment under review; it cannot be said to be some independent jurisdiction other than the jurisdiction exercised by the Court when the judgment under review was passed.
