Asad Khan VS State S. 9(D)---Possession of narcotic substances---Appreciation of evidence---Minor contradictions in prosecution evidence---Inconsequential---Prosecution case was that 94800 grams charas was recovered from the vehicle driven by the accused---Although, the defence pointed out some minor contradictions and discrepancies, such as those related to timings and the number of Police Officials accompanying the Seizing Officer to the spot, however, those did not cast doubt on the guilt of the appellant in the judicial mind of the High Court---Instead, those discrepancies were found to be trivial and could be overlooked, especially when the factum of recovery, the chain of safe custody, and the secure transmission of the contraband were proven beyond doubt---Police Officials routinely conducted the process of recovery of narcotic substances---Over time, recollections of exact timings and the number of officials involved might vary---Said fact did not imply that witnesses did not provide truthful testimony, rather it showed the fallibility of memory and the routine nature of such proceedings---Moreover, prosecution witnesses were not expected to provide statements with mathematical precision, but to provide truthful testimony to the best of their recollection---Minor discrepancies or inconsistencies in testimony should be disregarded as long as the core facts remained consistent---Parrot like narration of facts with mathematical precision was not required, nor necessarily trustworthy---Appeal against conviction was dismissed, in circumstances.
