MRS. TASNEEM ABBAS VS ADDITIONAL DISTRICT JUDGE, LAHORE. Ss.5(1), 5(2), 5(3) & 5(5)---Punjab Rented Premises Act, 2007---Relationship of landlord and tenant---Proof---Execution and presentation of tenancy agreement before Rent Registrar. Section 5(1) of Punjab Rented Premises Act, 2007 provides that landlord shall not rent out premises except through tenancy agreement. Section 5(2) requires presentation of tenancy agreement before Rent Registrar. Section 5(3) requires Rent Registrar to enter particulars of tenancy in register, affix official seal and retain copy thereof. Entry of tenancy agreement in office of Rent Registrar under Section 5(5) is treated as proof of relationship of landlord and tenant. Such statutory requirement establishes tenancy relationship for purposes of proceedings under the Act.
