UNITED BUSINESS MACHINES VS GHULAM HUSSAIN HIDAYATULLAH S. 15---eviction petition---Letter of attornment---Scope---Landlord filed applications for eviction of tenants from a building on the ground of personal requirement---Rent Controller allowed the ejectment applications---Appeals filed by tenants were dismissed---Contention of tenants was that except a letter of attornment nothing was available on record to establish title of the landlord---Validity---When a letter of attornment was issued by previous owner to tenants, it did not lie in the mouth of tenants to challenge the title being transferred---Letter of attornment was a notice from a landlord/owner to a tenant that the property had been sold/transferred directing the tenant not only to pay rent but acknowledge landlord's rights in the property---Attornment occurred when a tenant acknowledged a new owner of the property as his new landlord---By all actions of the tenants, the new owner's rights in the property were acknowledged---Constitutional petitions were dismissed.
