TRIO INDUSTRIES (PVT.) LIMITED VS BABU SHER. Legal maxim---"Nullus commodum capere potest de injuria sua propria"---"Ignorantia juris non excusat"---Scope and applicability. The maxim "Nullus commodum capere potest de injuria sua propria" means that no person can take advantage of his own wrong. If a person adopts a strategy to defeat legal rights of another, he cannot be permitted to derive benefit from his own wrongful act. The maxim "Ignorantia juris non excusat" means ignorance of law is no excuse. A person cannot avoid legal consequences by pleading that he was unaware of law or its requirements. Both principles emphasize that a person cannot obtain advantage through his own wrong or ignorance of legal obligations.
